Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen continued his impressive goalscoring form as Galatasaray secured a convincing 4-0 away victory over Konyaspor in the Turkish Süper Lig on Friday.
Osimhen got the defending champions off to a flying start, opening the scoring in the 12th minute with a well-timed header from Gabriel Sara’s cross at the Konya Metropolitan Municipality Stadium.
Galatasaray maintained their attacking momentum, with Yunus Akgün doubling their advantage in the 28th minute through a powerful finish. Just three minutes later, Sara got his name on the scoresheet, extending the visitors’ lead to 3-0 before half-time.
The Turkish champions continued where they left off after the break, adding another goal in the 49th minute through Aleksey Batrakov to complete a dominant performance.
The victory marked another impressive result for Galatasaray, who carried their momentum into Friday’s encounter following their thrilling 2-1 triumph over city rivals Fenerbahçe in Monday’s Istanbul derby.
Osimhen was once again the standout performer in that derby, scoring both goals to help Galatasaray claim a memorable victory over their fierce rivals.
The Nigerian international opened the scoring in the 29th minute with a powerful finish after combining with Barış Alper Yılmaz. He then doubled Galatasaray’s advantage in the 44th minute, heading home after Davinson Sánchez’s effort had been saved.
Although İrfan Can Kahveci pulled one back for Fenerbahçe in the 62nd minute, Galatasaray held on to secure all three points.
Osimhen’s latest goal against Konyaspor took his Turkish Süper Lig tally to nine goals this season, further underlining his importance to the team’s attacking ambitions.
Having already made a significant impact in the Istanbul derby, the Super Eagles forward is continuing to deliver when it matters most as Galatasaray strengthen their position at the top of the league standings.
With Osimhen leading the attack and the team building impressive momentum, Galatasaray will be confident of maintaining their strong start as they pursue another Turkish league title.
